Obituary of Marguerite J. Lane
Marguerite Joyce Lane, lovingly referred to as “Maggie”, passed away Friday, July 13 at the age of 97 years old. Maggie was born in North Carolina but lived in Salem most of her life. She was a caring wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who prioritized thinking of others and who always did her best to help anyone in need. She had a kind spirit and saw the best in everyone. She felt blessed to be surrounded by her family whom she treasured more than anything. She was preceded in death by her husband of 70 years, Frank “Sparky” Lane. She is survived by her children Van Lane, Diane L. Hammersley and husband, Charlie, and David Lane, as well as her grandchildren, Lesley H. Owen, Charlie Hammersley, Jr., Angel Lane their families, which include her precious great-grandchildren. She will be greatly missed and never forgotten but we take comfort knowing she now rests in peace. Special thanks to Snyder’s nursing home for the outstanding care and attention they showed Maggie over the past year.
