Obituary of Violet E. Vest

Violet E. "Granny" or "Aunt Irma" Vest, 100 of Roanoke went home to be with the Lord, Thursday, July 12, 2018.  She was preceded by her parents, Virgil H. and Birdie Dodd Moore, husband Russell T. Vest, daughter, Doris Smith, sons-in-law, Robert and David Smith, brother, Oliver Moore, sister, Ruth Lotts and a great grandson, Adam Smith.

Mrs. Vest was employed by the N W Pugh Company, Leggett's, and Woolco. She was a former member of Belmont Presbyterian Church and a current member of Shenandoah Baptist Church.  Mrs. Vest was known for her baking, especially her coconut cakes.

Surviving are her daughter, Iva Vest Smith; son, Larry Vest and wife Dianne, eight grandchildren, twenty-three great grandchildren, seventeen great great grandchildren, and numerous special nieces, nephews and friends of the family whose support was greatly appreciated.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests that memorials be made to Camp Eagle C/O Shenandoah Baptist Church.

Funeral services will be conducted 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 18, 2018 at Simpson Funeral Home 5160 Peters Creek Road.  Interment will follow in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens.  The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.  Arrangements by Simpson Funeral Home.  366-0707
