Arnold Radford Howell of Bedford, formerly of Roanoke passed away on September 7, 2012 at the age of 76. He was preceded in death by his parents, John R. and Ople S. Howell of Roanoke and a lifelong companion "Lady". Mr. Howell retired from Eli Lilly/Elizabeth Arden after many years of dedicated service. He is survived by a daughter, Mitzi Lynn Howell of Salem; two grandsons, Brandon Howell Journell, Jeffrey Tyler Journell and a granddaughter, Ellisa Grace Ayers all of Salem. The family would like to give a special thank you to Seven Hills Hospice and their staff, Tara Staples and Crystal Brodesser, Lewis Gale physicians, Dr. Nelsen Greene and staff, and Dr. Stephen Vivian. The family is grateful for the prayers and support from all the many friends and loved ones during this time. Donations to the ALS Foundation, DC, MD, VA Chapter, 7507 Standish Place, Rockville, MD. 20855 in Mr. Howell's name would be appreciated. The family will receive friends 6:00pm-8:00pm Sunday, September 9, 2012 at Simpson Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held 11:00am Monday, September 10, 2012 in the Mount Pleasant Cemetery with Pastor Liz Mortlock officiating.
