Obituary of Jimmy C. Standifer

Jimmy C. Standifer 66, of Roanoke, passed away Thursday May 31, 2018. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Ed and Kittie Standifer, his mother Beulah Orick, and a sister Ruby Crouch.

Jimmy leaves behind two daughters, Amy Miller, and husband Ronnie, Kimberly Hollman and husband Robert; and a son Carl Standifer. Along with sisters, Brenda Hughes, Carolyn Hamden, Virginia (Jenny) King, brothers, Darryl, Cecil, and David Orick, a great aunt, Nancy Freeman, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He graduated from Jonesville High School, Jonesville, VA in May of 1971. In 1972, Jimmy joined the United States Army where he served stateside and overseas specializing in transportation until his retirement in 1993. He was a member of the Disables American Veterans and Veterans of Foreign Wars. 

His daughter, Amy would like to thank his brother-in-law, Lyn Gilbert for his caregiving and companionship over the past several months. Daddy thought a lot of you and I am eternally grateful.

A memorial service will be held Wednesday June 06, 2018 2:00 pm at Simpson Funeral Home 5160 Peters Creek Road Roanoke, VA 24019.
