                                                 Peggy Boggess Coffman

                                                   9/5/1926 - 5/17/2018

"It was a long and wonderfull ride!"

Peggy Coffman was born in Melbourne, Florida, to Kingsmore and Jessie Harper Boggess.  While a senior in high school and working at the Banana River Naval Air Station during World War II, she met Bill Coffman, "the love of her life."  She married Bill in April 1945 and they moved to his home state of Virginia, which she loved from the first time she saw it and her first daffodils.

In 1954 Peggy and Bill moved from Richmond to Roanoke with their five year old daughter, Judy, their pride and joy.  Here they remained until 1971 when they moved with G.E. to Mebane, NC, retired to Melbourne, FL, and returned in 1999 to live in Vinton close to their daughter.  Their final move was to Friendship Manor Independent Living, residing there for many good years and making good friends.  At various times they also made a home in Newport News, VA; Burlington, NC; Moneta, VA; Copper Hill, VA; and a myriad of campsites throughout the United States and Canada.  Peggy was an avid bridge player with many bridge friends wherever they lived or traveled in their Airstream Trailer.

Peggy leaves behind her daughter, Judy Coffman of Roanoke; "favorite" grandson, Charley Cosmato, his wife Patty, and great grandchildren, Nate and Myra, all of Radford, VA.  She will be fondly remembered by her many friends for her sunny disposition, generous spirit, cookie baking, love of entertaining, and teaching her family that even a coke tastes better when served in a crystal glass.

Peggy was a loyal member of Thrasher Memorial United Methodist Church in Vinton, where a celebration of her life will be held 2 p.m. Thursday May 24, 2018.  The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.  Arrangements by Simpson Funeral Home & Crematory.  366-0707
