Obituary of John T. King

Please share a memory of John to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

John T. King, 73 of Roanoke went to be with the Lord on Wednesday May 9, 2018. His wife, Brenda King and two brothers, Bob and Wayne King, preceded him.

John served proudly in the United States Air Force. He was a volunteer fire fighter for 40 plus years and was the Chief of the Cave Spring Fire Department. He took pride in his service with the fire department, where he had a hand in shaping many of local firefighters, who proudly serve the community today.

Prior to his death, you would find John drinking coffee with the “old farts club” at the Cave Spring Fire Department every morning.  Along with his love for the fire department, John enjoyed his family and 5 grandchildren dearly.  He will be missed by all.

Left to cherish his memory include son, Brandon King and wife Amy of Roanoke; daughter, Farrah King of Oregon; grandchildren, Katelynn, Abigail, Aislinn, Jordan, and Carson; sisters, Ann King and Cheryl Underwood and husband Tommy all of Pulaski; special niece and nephew, Megan Meador and husband Ryan, and Matthew Underwood. Along with many other relatives and friends too numerous to mention.

A memorial service celebrating Mr. King’s life will be held 10: 00am on Thursday May 17, 2018 at the Penn Forest Christian Church, 3028 Penn Forest Blvd, Cave Spring, Roanoke 24018 with Pastor Brian Clingenpeel officiating.  Inurnment will follow for those that wish to meet with family.
