Obituary of Sue Ellen Terry
Sue Ellen Terry, 65, of Roanoke, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, April 25, 2018. Her parents, John Patterson and Hattie Mays, preceded her in death.
Born in Welch, West Virginia in 1952, she later moved to Botetourt County and attended James River High School. Ms. Terry worked at ITT in Roanoke for many years before retiring. She enjoyed reading, working crossword puzzles, and watching her favorite TV show, Gunsmoke. She was happiest when she was spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren, who always made her laugh.
Left to cherish her memories are her son, Doug King and wife, Mary of Roanoke; daughter, Sheri Mason and husband, Robby of Goodview; five grandchildren, Matt, Ryan, Savanah, Ally and Gabby; six great grandchildren, Matthew, Nathanael, Sarah, Annabelle, Elijah, and Felicity; two sisters, Nancy King and husband, Tommy of Buchanan, Ruth Maxie of Vinton; two brothers, David Patterson and wife, Margaret of Salem, Gene Austin of New Castle; and a host of other relatives and friends, including her lifelong friend, Debbie Byrd of Martinsville.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Lung Association in Ms. Terry’s memory.
Services will be at Simpson Funeral Home located at 5160 Peters Creek Road. Visitation will be 1-2 p.m. and funeral at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, April 30, 2018. Due to limited space, a private family burial will take place after the services. The family invites everyone to attend a Celebration of Life gathering at 5:00 p.m.Monday April 30, 2018 at Glenvar Baptist Church, 4804 Stanley Farm Road, Salem, Virginia 24153.
