Obituary of Delores Maureen Anderson Royal

Delores Maureen (nee Anderson) Royal, 76, of Vinton passed away Tuesday, March 27, 2018, after a courageous 3 year battle with Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML).  

Born on December 13, 1941, in Youngstown, OH to Ralph Dobson Anderson and Florence Mildred (nee Elbel) Anderson who preceded her in death.  One of eight children, she was preceded in death by her brothers Marvin and Walter, and sister Lucinda Wright. She is survived by brothers Chester and Donald, and sisters, Juanita DuVall and JoAnn Grazier.  She is also survived by three children: Pamela (Curtis) Potter, Jennifer (Peter) Graff, and Eric (Carol) Royal; 6 grandchildren, Kayla and Deidre Potter, Keyton and Teegan Graff, and Alisha and Dalton Royal.

A 1959 graduate of Chaney High School, Delores spent 35 years in various aspects of medicine, including laboratory, x-ray, and office management.

The family wishes to express sincere thanks and appreciation to the professional caregivers who supported her throughout her fight with AML, including McLeod Cancer Center, Florence SC, Medical University of SC, Charleston, SC, The James Cancer Center of Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio, Blue Ridge Cancer Care and Carilion Memorial Hospital, including homecare and hospice, Roanoke VA.
