Obituary of Ronald Walter Riquelmy

Ronald W. “Rick” Riquelmy 86, of Roanoke passed away Tuesday, February 6, 2018.  He was preceded in death by his wife, Genevieve Walsh Riquelmy.

Rick served in the U S Navy where he began his career as an Air Traffic Controller.  Upon discharge from the Navy he continued his air traffic career, a career that would span over thirty five years.  Most of those years were spent at the Roanoke Regional Airport.   He was a member of St. Andrew’s Catholic Church.

Surviving are his children, Tony Riquelmy and wife Penny, Ronny Riquelmy and wife Renee, Annette Strickland and husband Donnie; grandchildren, Meagan Anthony and husband Matt, Amy Thurman and husband Justin, Christopher Riquelmy and wife Rebecca, Benjamin and Anthony Riquelmy; and Lori Strickland; eleven great grandchildren; brother, Henry Riquelmy and wife Laurie; and sisters, Lois Spivey and husband Durell, and Peggy Riquelmy.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorials be made to Gentle Shepherd Hospice or the American Cancer Society.

Funeral Mass will be conducted Noon, Friday February 9, 2018 at St. Andrew’s Catholic Church by the Rev. Kevin Segerblom.  Entombment will follow in the church mausoleum.  The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Thursday at Simpson Funeral Home 5160 Peters Creek Road.  366-0707
