Obituary of Paul Roger Moore

Paul Roger Moore (Roger, Dad, Pop, and Papa), 71, of Roanoke, VA passed away peacefully on Monday, January 29, 2018 surrounded by his loving wife, children, and grandchildren.

Roger was born to the late Paul and Clarabelle Moore in Washington, DC on February 28th, 1946. He attended McLean High School and graduated from the Bullis School in 1965. Roger received a degree in business from Virginia Tech in 1969. He was employed by the FAA as an air traffic controller at Roanoke Regional Airport from 1970 to 1998 where he received multiple certificates of recognition. As a retiree, he worked at golf courses across the valley and as a substitute teacher for Roanoke County Schools. In his spare time, Roger enjoyed traveling to the beach with friends and family, golfing, and maintaining his pool for others to enjoy.

Roger was generous and loving, always with a smile and hands ready to help. He loved his family and friends fiercely, and is survived by his wife, Rena Bowman Moore; children, Kristian Moore, Clancy Roth and husband Ryan, Randy Powell and wife Tracy, Tara Delp and husband Jeremy; grandchildren, Haleigh and husband Kaleb, Madison, Graham (Barksdale), Addie, Jamie, Hampton (Hoot), Cooper (Bubba), and Corbin (Dizzy); sister, Mary Ellen Cochrane and husband Tom; as well as many adored nieces and nephews including Ashley Cochrane and husband Jeff Fromm, and Laura Cochrane; great niece, Sylvia.

Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Friday, February 2, 2018 at Simpson Funeral Home 5160 Peters Creek Road by Dr. Chris Cadenhead.  A reception will follow at Bonsack Baptist Church.  The family will receive friends from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, February 1, 2018 at Simpson Funeral Home.  366-0707
