Obituary of Mary Frances Conner

Mary Frances Forbes Conner, 94, of Roanoke went home to be with the Lord, Monday, January 29, 2018.

She was preceded by her husband, Samuel F. Conner; son, Michael Lynn Conner; parents, Frank T. and Minnie Crantz Forbes; and a sister, Lois Katherine Smith.

Mary Frances proudly served her country as an Army nurse during World War II.  She later retired as a Registered Nurse with Lewis Gale Hospital.  In addition to being a lifelong member of First Church of the Brethren, she was a member of the American Association of Cardiac Nurses, and the Ladies Auxillary of the Order of the Elks.  She was a volunteer with the American Heart Association and the Red Cross.

Surviving are her son, Robert Forbes Conner and fiancee, Kay Adkins and Kay's children, Charles III, Adam and Matthew Adkins; brothers, Roy Lee Forbes, Frank T. Forbes and wife, Nelda; and a number of nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests that memorials be made to First Church of the Brethren or the American Heart Association.

Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Friday, February 2, 2018 at First Church of the Brethren 2001 Carroll Avenue N.W. by Pastor Dava Hensley.  Interment will follow in Cedar Lawn Memorial Park.  The family will receive friends from 2-4 p.m. Thursday at Simpson Funeral Home 5160 Peters Creek Road.  366-0707
