Virginia Kirk Horton, 89, of Roanoke went home to be with the Lord, Monday, August 27, 2012. She was the last surviving child of William and Effie Kirk. Surviving are her children, Mary McGhee; Virginia (Ginny) Spindle and Mike Smith all of Roanoke; Odess Kent Horton and wife Martha; Linda Faye Johnson all of Vinton; five grandchildren, ten great grandchildren. The family would like to express their thanks to the extraordinary staff at Berkshire Health Care Center for their many acts of kindness and compassion during Virginia's illness. A graveside service will be conducted 2 p.m. Thursday, August 30, 2012 in Old Dominion Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the cemetery.
