Obituary of Myrtle Wagner Mays

Myrtle Wagner Mays, 87, of Roanoke, went home to be with the Lord Friday, January 5, 2018.  She was preceded by her husband, George "Junior" Mays; and a sister, Ellen Timmerman.

Mrs Mays was a devoted member of Oakland Baptist Church.  She was proud of her entire family and especially proud to be a great-great grandmother.

Left to cherish her memory are, daughters, Sherry Smith and husband Bobby, Mary Sparks and husband Buddy; grandchildren, Julia Huffman and husband Jake, Ellen Cabaniss and husband Steve, Robbie Smith and wife Jen, Joshua Sparks and wife Becky; nine great-grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren. 

In lieu of flowers the family suggests that memorials be made to Oakland Baptist Church.

Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Tuesday, January 9, 2018 at Simpson Funeral Home 5160 Peters Creek Road by the Rev. Robbie Smith and Joshua Sparks.  Interment will follow in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens.  The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Monday at Simpson Funeral Home.  366-0707
