Howard C. Ricketson, III, 82 of Salem peacefully passed away Wednesday, August 22, 2012. He was born in Cincinnati, Ohio and after a successful business career in Ohio, he moved his family to Salem in 1975 where he founded a local restaurant franchise, Wendy's of Western, Va., Inc. He retired in 2008. Howard enjoyed getting together with his friends and loved ones to share his latest humorous story. He enjoyed gardening, reading, spending time with his family and his beloved dog, Brandy. He is survived by his wife, Marjorie; daughters; Hope, Joy, Eileen, Karen, Gayle and Diane and their spouses; sons, Jim, Jon, and Bob and their spouses; sixteen grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren. A service of inurnment will be conducted 10 a.m. Saturday, August 25, 2012 in the Chapel of Light in Evergreen Cemetery by the Rev. Robert Fiedler. The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Friday at Simpson Funeral Home 5160 Peters Creek Road. 366-0707
