Obituary of Raymond Lee Harrison

Raymond Lee Harrison 79 of Roanoke went to be with the Lord on Tuesday December 5, 2017. His parents, Walter Clifford and Keller Douglas Harrison, three sisters, Katherine Fulwider. Sybil “Bootsie” Clark, Virginia Farris, brothers, William Jack Harrison, and Earl Harrison, brothers-in-law, Curtis Farris and Edward Solomon preceded him.

Mr. Harrison served proudly from 1961-1966 in the United States Navy. He retired after many years of service with Harris Teeter as a meat cutter. In his spare time, he enjoyed watching and playing baseball, also an avid NASCAR and UVA fan and collecting old things.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 48 years Barbara Solomon Harrison; daughter, Renee H. Popielarz and husband Richard of Maidens, Virginia; sons, Mark Harrison and wife Stacey of Roanoke, and David Kibler and wife Cathy of Chamblissburg, Virginia; seven grandchildren, Conner and Justin Popielarz, Logan and Bryce Harrison, Samantha Hill, Allison and Brandon Kibler; sister, Peggy Nimmo; sisters-in-laws and brother-in-law, Betty Harrison, Dorothy Rogers, Jimmy Clark. Along with a host of other relatives and his friends at Our Place and Sandy’s.

The family would like to give a special thank you to the Staff at the Salem VA Medical Center Palliative Care unit for all their care and support they gave to Mr. Harrison and his family.

A memorial service will be held 2:00pm Saturday December 9, 2017 at Simpson Funeral Home. Inurnment will follow in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens. Family will receive friends an hour before the service on Saturday at the funeral home.
