Obituary of William Roscoe Hatcher

William R. “Buck” Hatcher, Jr. 90, of Hardy went home to be with the Lord Monday, November 6, 2017. He was preceded by his wife of 53 years, Oleen Wray Hatcher, parents, William, Sr. and Edna Hatcher, three brothers, Jack, Ernie and Bobby Hatcher; three sisters,Betty Thurman, Liz Payne, and Ruth Dawson; two sons-in-law, Johnny Jackson and Richard Majestic; and a granddaughter, Christy Blankenship.

Surviving are his children, Penny Jackson, Jay W. Hatcher and wife Dillie, Cindy Majestic, Ilieta “Sissy” Chitwood and husband Anthony; and Kenny Hatcher; grandchildren, Wendy Moulse and husband Brandon, Carol Anne Caldwell and husband Brian, Micheal Chitwood and wife Ashley, Michele Adams and husband Kris, Ethan Hatcher and Kendra, Colby Hatcher, Jay Jay Hatcher and wife Natasha; great grandchildren, Benjamin and Joshua Moulse, Ethan and Eli Caldwell, Christopher and Lauren Blankenship, Tyler Blankenship, Breonna, James, Christy and Addison Hatcher, Bryan Woods and Bradley Jones; one great great grandchild, Savannah Blankenship; brothers, Roy and Joe Hatcher; sisters, Norma Jean Myers and husband Billy, Ruby Welch and husband James; brother-in-law, Rodney Wray and wife Karen; numerous nieces and nephews; and special care givers, Alex and Jennifer Cox, and Jessica Merricks.

Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Friday, November 10, 2017 at Simpson Funeral Home 5160 Peters Creek Road by Chaplain David Simon. Interment will follow in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Thursday at Simpson Funeral Home. 366-0707
