Joel Melton Sloane, 61, of Roanoke passed away on Wednesday, October 11, 2017. He was a native Roanoker, served in the United States Army, was a talented artist, great Dad, son, brother and friend. He was preceded in death by his parents, Billy C. and Peggy Melton Sloane, brother Ellett L. Sloane, special cousins Harry and Paul Helm.

He is survived by his daughters Emma M. Sloane and Susana C. Caudle, son Bobby R. Caudle III, brother Daniel E. Sloane and wife Janet Rice Sloane of Tioga, TX, sisters Holly R. Sloane of Charlotte, NC and Cyndi Sloane Croft of Roanoke, nephews Zac Croft and Isaac Sloane, great niece Laura Croft, special uncle and aunt George and Masako Sloane, and numerous other cousins and friends.

Special thanks to the staff of Pheasant Ridge Nursing and Rehabilitation Center for their care and support during his stay there.

There will be a celebration of Joe’s life at 1:00 pm on Saturday, October 21, 2017 at Southview United Methodist Church, 3539 Peters Creek Road, Roanoke. The family will receive friends from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm that day at the church.  Arrangements by Simpson Funeral Home & Crematory.  366-0707
