Obituary of Frances Witt

Frances Peters Witt 92 of Roanoke passed away on Sunday, October 30, 2011. She was preceded in death by her parents, Charlie D. and Irene M. Peters; husband Stewart L. Witt; daughter, Teresa Witt Taylor; son, Herman L. Witt; great granddaughter, Kalley Bray; brothers, Robert "Bud" Peters, Lewis Peters, Chester Peters and Donald Peters. Left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Charlotte McBride and husband Jerry; sons, Gary Witt and wife Beverley, Terry Witt and wife Judy, Dennis Witt and wife Doris, David "Pete" Witt and wife Elizabeth; special son-in-law, James Taylor, special daughter-in-law, Peggy Witt; seventeen grandchildren; twenty three great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Surviving siblings are Patricia Eanes of Roanoke, Lawrence Peters and wife lois of Wake Forest, N.C. and Alvin Peters and wife Bobbi of Wirtz. Frances "Doodle" graduated from William Fleming High School in 1937, and was a proud member of the Golden Colonels. Frances was a long time member of Air Lee Baptist Church. She spent many years selling real estate and made many friends doing so. Her life was one of honesty, courage, and compassion. Her family was everything to her. She will be sorely missed. A special thanks to Richfield Recovery and Care Center for the many acts of kindness and wonderful care. She loved living there. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials be made to Good Samaritan Hospice, 2408 Electric Road, Roanoke, VA. 24018 or to a charity of the donor's choice. A graveside service will be conducted 10:00am. Wednesday, November 2, 2011 in Bethlehem Church of the Brethren Cemetery in Franklin County. The family will receive friends from 4:00-8:00pm Tuesday, November 1, 2011 at Simpson Funeral Home, 5160 Peters Creek Road, Roanoke, VA. 24019. 540-366-0707.
