Rev. Charles S. “Charlie” Hoffler, 72, of Vinton went home to be with his Lord and Savior Saturday, October 7, 2017. He was preceded by his mother, Nan Hoffler, brothers, Richie Hoffler and Monroe Hoffler, sister, Dorothy Branch and father, James Hoffler.Charles proudly served in the U S Army during the Vietnam era. He was a graduate of Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary and served as Pastor of: Blackstone, Morgan’s, Waverly Place, Cedar Bluff, and Coopers Cove Baptist Churches. Following his retirement from the active ministry he continued his service to others as Chaplain of Carilion Hospice for ten years.Charlie was a very loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend. He will be dearly missed by all.Left to cherish his memory are his loving and devoted wife of 48 years, Vickie Hoffler; three daughters, Tiffany Faw and husband Scott, Christi Lyons and husband Joey, Tobi Helton and husband Chris; grandchildren, Brock, Mitch, and Amelia Faw, Eliana and James Lyons, Brian, Michael, and Matthew Helton; brother, Donald Hoffler and wife Eileen; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends too numerous to mention.Funeral services will be conducted 1 p.m. Saturday, October 14, 2017 at Lakeside Baptist Church 447 Dalewood Avenue, Salem by Pastor Joey Lyons and the Rev. Steve Parker. Interment will follow in Evergreen Burial Park. The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at Simpson Funeral Home 5160 Peters Creek Road and 11:30 a.m. until service time at the church on Saturday.
