Obituary of Olen Lindburg Martin

Olen L. Martin, 86, of Roanoke passed away peacefully Thursday, October 5, 2017. Olen retired after serving twenty years in the U S Air Force. He served as a Crew Chief in charge of weights and balance of B-52s. He would often say he spent his best twenty years of his life in the military.Olen grew up in Floyd County, Virginia. He was known as an individual who could accomplish anything once he set his mind to it. He will long be remembered for his knowledge and ability to fix anything.Surviving are his daughters, Joyce DeArmond and Diane Charlton; four grandchildren and five great grandchildren.Olen was loved and respected by everyone he knew. He was an amazing father, grandfather, and great grandfather and will be greatly missed by his family and friends.A celebration of life will be held Noon, Monday, October 9, 2017 at Simpson Funeral Home 5160 Peters Creek Road with the Rev. Roy U. Turpin officiating. Entombment with Military Honors will follow in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
