Obituary of Betty Jeanette Yates

Betty Deline Yates, 82, of Roanoke passed away peacefully Wednesday, September 27, 2017.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Yates, grandson, Kevin James Miller, great grandson, Tanner Butler, brothers, Ron Lawson, Sr., Buddy Mays, and Marvin Lawson; sisters, Mary Slayton and Margie Carter.

Betty was a life-long member of Hollins Road Baptist Church where she loved to listen to the choir, attend both Bible study and her Sunday school class.

Surviving are her daughter; Connie Miller and husband Carl, granddaughter, Jenna Miller and husband Aaron Butler; great grandson, Tristan Butler, and a number of nieces and nephews including a special niece, Phyllis Hodges who tirelessly helped Betty these last few years.

The family wishes to thank the staff at Lewis Gale Hospital’s Medical Intensive Care Unit for their wonderful care and compassion for the family. 

A graveside service will be conducted 1:30 p.m. Saturday, September 30, 2017 in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens by the Rev. Mark Washington.  The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. at Simpson Funeral Home 5160 Peters Creek Road.  366-0707
