Obituary of Alice McAllister Mills

Alice Earline McAllister Mills, 83, of Roanoke died Monday, September 25, 2017 after a brief illness. She was born in Fincastle on March 26, 1934, the only child of Aubrey Earl and Annie Minnix McAllister. Sher graduated from Andrew Lewis High School and retired from Elizabeth Arden.

She was predeceased by her parents, husbands Allen and Edward, longtime companion, Rudy Criner, grandson, Gary Allen Dooley, and her fur baby, Tippy.

Surviving are her daughters, Sharon (Larry) Reynolds, Deborah (Ray Thomas) Elkins; granddaughter, Susan (Timmy) Poage; grandson, Richard (Brooke Thierry) Elkins; great granddaughters Hannah and Emily Richardson; great grandsons, Cameron Elkins, Dylan Collins; brother-in-law, Robert G. Mills; very special niece, Linda (Michael Witt) Suthers, fur baby, SMO; and numerous cousins.

The family would like to extend their sincere thanks to the Lewis Gale Hospital Emergency Room staff, Medical Intensive Care nurses Micala and Oleg for their professional care and kindness to our mother and family, and appreciation to New Century Hospice for helping get our mother home. We also offer special recognition and appreciation to Linda Suthers and Michael Witt who provided her care with love.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests that memorials be made to the SPCA 1340 Baldwin Avenue Roanoke, Va. 24012.

A graveside service will be conducted 11 a.m. Thursday, September 28, 2017 in Sherwood Memorial Park by Elwood McAllister, minister. The family will receive friends from 6-9 p.m. Wednesday at Simpson Funeral Home 5160 Peters Creek Road. 366-0707
