Obituary of Betty Sue Grinnell

Betty Sue Byers Grinnell, 85, on September 20, 2017 our beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother left behind her earthly body to join her Lord in Heaven. Surrounded by her loving family she slipped peacefully into his merciful arms. Formerly of Rural Retreat Va., and a longtime resident of Roanoke, Va. She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years Douglas Grinnell, Sr. and daughter-in-law Phyllis Mills Grinnell. She is survived by her children, Douglas L. Grinnell, Jr., Daniel T. Grinnell, Dean A. Grinnell, Dawn G. Goodman and fiancé Duane Parks, and W. Curtis Dudley and wife Cindy; grandchildren, Eric Grinnell, Paul Johnson, Brandon Grinnell, Kyle and Korey Goodman; great-grandchildren Madison Grinnell, Lucas Grinnell, Kinsington and Miles Goodman; as well as numerous other family, friends, and loved ones. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to be made in Betty’s name to the American Cancer Society. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Friday, September 22, 2017 at Simpson Funeral Home.
