Obituary of Frances Louise Willard Bonham
Frances Willard Bonham, 86, left for Heaven Monday, September 18, 2017 at Vidant Medical Center in Greenville, N.C. Born again and a believer in Jesus Christ, member of the Church of God for 69 years, and a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution.
She was a woman who was the personification of Psalm 31. Her commitment to a higher calling and faithfulness to God was evident in her daily reading of the Word and her unceasing prayers for all her family to come to know the Lord. Her actions were a testament to her undying love for God and for her family. This love shone through with every smile, laugh, and encouraging word. She loved working with her hands and sharing her gifts with others, and everyone who looked in her beautiful hazel green eyes could see her joy.
Mrs. Bonham was born in Rural Retreat, Va. on March 22, 1931 daughter of the late Oakley Leroy Willard and the late Hazel Virginia Malone. On December 9, 1947, Mrs. Bonham married Clark Ephraim Bonham who preceded her in death on March 8, 2001.
Three children, Ronald Bonham and wife, Cassandra of Greenville, N.C., Donald Bonham and wife, Deborah of Greenville, N.C., and Jacqueline Johnson and husband, Ronald Jr. of Murfreesboro, Tenn; nine grandchildren, Christina Bonham of Greenville, N.C., Stephanie Ratliff and husband, Sean of Raleigh, N.C., Ronald Bonham II of Garner, N.C., Jennifer Bonham (deceased), Melissa McLain and husband, Jeremy of Wilmington, N.C., Paul Bonham of Greenville, N.C., Logan Johnson of Murfreesboro, Tenn., Kalen Johnson of College Station, Texas, and Chance Johnson and wife, Brittany of Smyrna, Ga.; eleven great-grandchildren, Cyrus Spears, Hannah Caraway, Christopher Caraway, Eireann Foreman, Henry Foreman, Jimena Gallardo, Seydi Ruiz Johnson, Jeffrey McLain, Nathan McLain, Emilia Ratliff, and Kiernan Ratliff; one great-great-grandson, Michael Shaw; seven brothers, Tex and wife, Ethel of Darlington, S.C., Garry and wife, Clara of Newbern, Va., Cecil (deceased), Wayne and wife, Barbara of North Chesterfield, Va., John of Roanoke, Va., Oakley of Marion, Va., and Julian and wife, Rena of Marion, Va;. four sisters, Patsy Farris of Roanoke Va., Shirley Wheeler of Goodview, Va., Linda Carter of Martinsville, Va., and Martha Haven and husband, Charles of Adlins, Va.
Family will receive friends 1 to 2 p.m. Saturday, September 23rd, 2017. A funeral service will follow at 2 p.m. at Simpson Funeral Home of Roanoke, Va., officiated by Pastor Craig Caylor of Roanoke. Burial will follow at the Sherwood Memorial Park. Arrangements by Simpson Funeral Home &
