David H. Byer 79 of Roanoke passed away Monday September 18, 2017. Today Heaven's gain is our loss. He was a Godly Christian man and a loving husband, daddy, brother, uncle, and Paw Paw. He will be greatly missed and our hearts will never forget him. We hold onto our faith in Jesus Christ that one day we will see him again.

David was born and raised in Covington, VA. He was a Disabled Veteran and a proud American having served in the United States Navy aboard the ship USS Ticonderoga. David spent most of his adult life in Roanoke.

Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife, Dreama, come September 24, 2017 they would have been married for 51 years; daughter Lewanda Spencer and husband Mark; three grandsons he simply adored, Chris Hogan, Jesse and Justin Spencer; sister, Bonnie Sizemore and husband Sam. Along with several nieces, nephews, and his beloved pet Daisy Mae.

A service celebrating David’s life will be held 11:00am Thursday September 21, 2017 at Simpson Funeral Home with Dr, Rudy Holland officiating and special music by Dave Rogers. Interment with Military Honors will follow at 3:00pm in Alleghany Memorial Park. Family will receive friends from 2:00-4:00pm and 6:00-8:00pm Wednesday September 20, 2017 at the funeral home.
