Margaret G. Chumbley, 92, of Roanoke went home to our Heavenly Father Sunday, September 3, 2017. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother who will be greatly missed. She was preceded in death by her father, John W. Graham; mother, Essie Carter Graham; brothers, Earl and Johnny Graham; sister, Dorothy Hyatt; her husband of 53 years, James “Robert” Chumbley; daughter, Sandra B. Dockery; and son-in-law, Glenn W. Garrett.

Surviving are her daughter, Shelby C. Garrett of Christiansburg; son and daughter-in-law, James “Bob” Chumbley and wife Stephanie of Pigeon Forge; sisters, Gladys Austin and Freda Guill both of Roanoke; seven grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren, six great great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family offers a special thanks to the staff at Amedisys Hospice, and Commonwealth Senior Living in Christiansburg. Very special thanks to Tim, Melissa and Marcy for their many acts of kindness.

Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Wednesday, September 6, 2017 at Simpson Funeral Home 5160 Peters Creek Road by the Rev. Troy Mays. Interment will follow in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m. Tuesday at Simpson Funeral Home. 366-0707
