Obituary of William Clyde Costen

William “Mickey” Clyde Costen, Jr., 75 of Moneta, Virginia passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Wednesday, August 23rd, 2017.  He was preceded in death by his parents, William Clyde, Sr. and Ruth Edwards Costen, and his wife of 30 years, Mary Ellen Costen.

 He is survived by his brother, Ronald W. Costen:  his daughter, Sandra Costen Adams and her husband Davis; son William C. Costen, III and his wife Jessica; daughters Autumn Lynne Costen, Kristy Neeley Waldron and Amanda Micheal and her husband Michael Morris.  He had 10 grandchildren, Stacie Rae Adams, Hailey Danielle, Lillian Amanda, Ryleigh Skye, William Clyde, IV, and Adam Dean Costen, Cheyenne Dana, Cierra Michael,  Christian Allen Waldron, and Jackson Keith Morris. 

Mickey was born a successful entrepreneur who owned many companies during his lifetime and worked in his current company, Patriot’s Home & Auto Outfitters, Inc. until his death.  He was a mentor, a motivator and helped many people to better their lives with his advice.  When we think about him, above all we will always remember his teachings of positive thinking, mind over matter, and his ability to encourage you to be an overcomer.  All of his family, employees and friends will be forever grateful for the lessons and truths he taught us.  One of his favorites was, “I feel healthy, I feel happy, I feel ENTHUSIASTIC!!!!”  And he would have you say it with enthusiasm!

A service to celebrate his life will be held 4 p.m. Sunday, August 27, 2017 at Simpson Funeral Home 5160 Peters Creek Road. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the serivce.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Roanoke Valley SPCA, 1340 Baldwin Ave NE, Roanoke, VA 24012.
