She was born to Jesse Lee Stup Sr. and Margaret Elizabeth Hahn Stup on February 16, 1927 in Adamstown Maryland. She attended grade school in Adamstown and graduated from Frederick High School in 1944. Gerry married J. Warren Burger on June 14, 1944 and they had 3 children. Gerry and husband Warren owned and operated a farm in Frederick County Maryland between Urbana and Buckeystown. She was a bookkeeper for her parent's business, Arcticaire. In later years, she worked for the National Geographic Society at the Membership Center in Gaithersburg Maryland, where she retired in 1993.

Gerry was also a lifelong member of the Adamstown Church now known as Adamstown Community Church, but formerly Adamstown United Church of Christ and prior to that the Adamstown German Reformed Church. She served on the consistory and many church committees including those wonderful country church suppers.

Mrs. Burger was a life member of the Women of the Moose Chapter 347 in Fredrick where she held many offices and committees for community support, Moose Hear and Moose Haven. She was also honored when called to serve on the board for the International WOTM organization.

She is survived by her son, Warren Jr. (Melissa), daughter, Joan (Gary Heishman), Granddaughter Rebecca (Jesus Ferro), and grandson Benjamin. Her great-grandchildren; Luke, Jesse, Lydia, and Aileen, brought her special joy. Gerry is also survived by Brother Jesse Stup, Jr. (Ruth).

The family wishes to extend a special thank-you for her caregivers at The Park at Oak Grove, for the ministry of the members of Christ Lutheran Church and Good Samaritan Hospice.

A graveside service will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, September 9, 2017 at Cluster Spires Cemetery, formerly Lynden Hills Cemetery.
