Obituary of Robert Joseph Walawski

Robert Joseph (Bob) Walawski, 89, of Roanoke passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 12, 2017. He was born March 18, 1928 in Chicago, Illinois to Joseph Paul and Sophie Dzkseuska Wakawski.

Bob proudly served his country for 40 years, retiring from the Navy as a Senior Chief Petty Officer. He later retired from the Roanoke County Engineering Department. Bob faithfully served his beloved St. Andrew's Caholic Church as both an usher and a greeter.

Surviving are his loving wife of 64 years, Marian Ruth Love Walawski, beloved daughters, Becky Tabor (Larry) of Roanoke, Kathy Ashwell and Sandy Cole (Chuck) of Vinton. His grandchldren include, Katie Ashwell Lowder (John), David Brett Ashwell of Charlotte, NC, Tara Brook Cole of Roanoke, Blake Conner Cole of Vinton and one great grandson, Nathan Hampton Lowder.I

n lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to St. Andrew's Chatholic Church or to a charity of the donors choice.

The family will receive friends from Noon to 1:30 p.m. Thursday, August 17, 2017 at Simpson Funeral Home 5160 Peters Creek Road. Funeral Mass will be held 2 p.m. Thursday at St. Andrew's Catholic Church. Interment will follow in Sherwood Memorial Park. Arrangements by Simpson Funeral Home. 366-0707
