Barbara Elizabeth Arthur (Granny Johnson) Johnson, 84, of Salem went home to be with the Lord Saturday, July 29, 2017. She was preceded in death by her husband of 40 years, Vernon Cline Johnson, son, James Edward Johnson, parents, Royal Jackson Arthur and Mabel Virginia Coleman Arthur, and a brother, Roy Arthur.

Barbara was a devoted wife, mother, and caregiver as well as a mother to all of the children in her neighborhood.Surviving are her son, Jeff Johnson and Darlene Witt; daughter, Gail Johnson Anderson and husband Mike; grandchildren, Luke Anderson, Lisa Pirogov and husband Artem, Jeff Johnson, Jr., Kristi Sword and Patrick Casstevens, and Larry Caldwell; great grandchildren, Aidan Casstevens, Gavin Sword, Isiah Johnson, Catlyn and Isaac Caldwell; brother, Willie Arthur and wife Mickey; sisters, Frances Staton, Linda Rivers and Donna Wolford and husband George; numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Wednesday, August 2, 2017 at Simpson Funeral Home 5160 Peters Creek Road by the Rev. Brian Gordon. Interment will follow in Ephesus United Methodist Church Cemetery Bedford, VA. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at Simpson Funeral Home. 366-0707
