Obituary of Ambros Woods

Ambros “Pappy” Woods 84 of Roanoke passed away Tuesday July 25, 2017 with his loving family by his side. A grandson, Chad David Woods, preceded him.

Mr. Woods is known for heating and air conditioning, having started in Baltimore in 1950 and in 1985 started his company, Woods Heating and Air here in Roanoke. He was also known to be a Master of all Trades, doing most anything, he put his mind to like restoring antique cars, gardening and bee keeping. Known for his faith and dedicated for many years as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses. A very loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather and friend who enjoyed being with his large family and will be dearly missed by all.

Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife Glenda Woods; children, Lynn Lilly and husband Roger, Gary Woods and wife Pam, Jeffrey Woods and wife Michelle, Ricky Woods and wife Tammy, and Kristi Crutchfield; grandchildren who truly adored their grandfather, Jeremy Lilly, Justin Lilly, Jared Lilly, Johnny Woods, Bryan Woods, Brandie Jones, Brandon Woods, Travis Woods, Zach Woods, Brittany Thrasher, Trevor Barnett, Austin Crutchfield, Abigail Crutchfield; fourteen great grandchildren, and countless friends and family, too numerous to mention, who loved him like a father.

The family would like to thank all who gave their support and care during this time.

A memorial service will be held 2:00pm Saturday July 29, 2017 at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witness’s, 3495 Belle Ave, Roanoke. Family will receive friends from 5:00-8:00pm Friday July 28, 2017 at Simpson Funeral Home. Condolences may be left for the family at www.simpsonfuneral.com.
