Obituary of Edward Sowers Wade

Edward Sowers Wade 93 of Roanoke passed away Wednesday July 19, 2017 after a brief illness. He was preceded by his parents, Regina and Aubrey Wade, sister, Doris Morris, brothers, Earl, Ray, and Thomas Wade.

Mr. Wade is a decorated veteran and served proudly in the United States Navy during World War II. He worked for American Viscose Textile until they closed. Then became a self-employed carpenter, building houses. He loved his farm, cows and tractor. A very loving husband, brother, uncle, and friend who will be dearly missed by all.

Surviving are his loving wife of 66 years Barbara Wade; sister, Hester Webb; brother, Bobby Wade and wife Becky; sisters-in-law, Connie Wade, Betsy Wade, Jo Wade, and Sharon Pedigo. Along with many nieces and nephews, and great, great great nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, charitable contributions may be made to Angel of Assisi, or a charity of your choice in Mr. Wade’s memory.

A Celebration of Life service will be held 2:00pm Friday July 21, 2017 in Simpson Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens. Family will receive friends Thursday July 20, 2017 from 5:00-8:00pm at Simpson Funeral Home. Condolences may be left for the family at www.simpsonfuneral.com.
