Alvin E. St.Clair, 85, of Roanoke went home to be with the Lord, Wednesday, July 5, 2017. He was preceded by his first wife, Jean, parents, Bill and Goldie St.Clair, brother, Robert St.Clair and an infant daughter, Karen St. Clair.

Alvin retired as an Engineer with the Norfolk Southern Railway in 1995. In retirement he took up golf and enjoyed playing with his son-in-law, grandsons, great grandsons and church friends

. He was a member of Thrasher Memorial United Methodist Church and a volunteer with Mana Ministries. Alvin proudly served in the U S Navy.

Surviving are his wife, Juanita Whorley St.Clair; daughter, Cathy S. Koon and husband Mike; grandsons, Chris Koon and wife Chelsea, Matt Koon and wife Shanna; great grandsons, Harrison, Paxton and Noah Koon; brother, Fred St.Clair and wife Nellie; sister-in-law, Jeri Testerman; step sons, Paul Whorley and wife Lisa, Jon Whorley; step grandchildren, J.P. Whorley, IV, and Sydney Whorley; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests that memorials be made to Hopetree Family Services 860 Mount Vernon Lane Salem, Virginia 24153.

Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Saturday, July 8, 2017 at Simpson Funeral Home 5160 Peters Creek Road by the Rev. Bernard Failes. Interment will follow in Sherwood Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Simpson Funeral Home. 366-0707
