Obituary of Salvatore Scotto Di Carlo
The Legend, Salvatore “Sal” Scotto-DiCarlo, 57 from Roanoke VA, passed away on Monday, July 3, 2017. Sal was born December 25, 1959, in Monte Di Procida, Italy, and made his way to Roanoke in 1987 by way of Brooklyn, New York to follow his passions of entrepreneurship and good Italian food. No matter where he lived, Sal never wavered in his love for soccer, and was an ardent Napoli Football Club fan.
Sal perfected his art of Italian cuisine and later became the owner and operator of “Sal’s Italian Restaurant” in Roanoke, where he was presented with numerous local and regional awards for his culinary skills. The traditional food and atmosphere Sal began in the area stretches back 30 years, cementing a legacy that will continue long into the future. Though Sal helped change the culinary landscape in Roanoke, he will be best remembered by those who knew him as a “shirt off his back guy,” a faithful husband, a loving father, and a devoted friend.
