Obituary of Helen Hardy

At 9:50 p.m. on June 15, 2017 Helen Bryan Hardy of Roanoke, went to her mansion in heaven. Although she will be missed greatly she is now walking streets of gold and spending time with many of her loved ones who passed before her.

Helen was a member of CommUNITY Church. She was known as Mother, Sister, Grams, Memaw and friend to many fortunate people. She was also known as a lovely cashier at Hardees (on Plantation Road) to her customers of almost 40 years. She had a special way of bringing love, comfort, and a little bit of spunk to any room she entered. Helen had a special love for her children and grandchildren along with her church family. She would want us to remember her as the humble, loving, and caring woman that we all knew her to be, and would ask that we all continue to show her kindness throughout our own lives.

Helen was predeceased by her parents, John and Eva Bryan, siblings, Ellen, John, Ann, Sonya, Terry, Lawrence, and baby Donnie as well as her partner, Archie Hicks.

Surviving are her children, Robert Hardy, II, Barry Hardy, Victor Hardy, and Ellen Carawan (Dan); grandchildren, Robert, Deanne, Sherri, Traci, and Kayla; ten great grandchildren; siblings, Evelyn, Pearl, Carol, Jane, Paul ,Denny, and Ronnie; the father of her  children, Robert Hardy, Sr.;  many nieces, nephews and her extended family at Hardees.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests that memorials be made to CommUNITY Church or to the Kidney Foundation.

A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, June 24, 2017 at CommUNITY Church 1923 East Main Street Salem with Pastor Tom McCracken officiating. The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until service time. Arrangements by Simpson Funeral Home & Crematory. 366-0707
