Betty Ruth McKinney, 75, of Roanoke went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, July 18, 2012. She passed peacefuly at her home surrounded by her loving family. Betty is survived by her husband of 52 years, Jimmie; their son David and his wife Connie; grandchildren whom she dearly loved, Joshua and Anna; brothers, Douglas Bowers and his wife Katherine; Olen Bowers; sister, Agnes Sizemore. Betty was known for her giving and caring heart. Her servant's spirit touched everyone who knew her and she will be greatly missed. The family would like to offer a special thank you to the dedicated staff of Carilion Hospice for their kind and gracious care. Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m.
Friday, July 20, 2012 at Simpson Funeral Home 5160 Peters Creek Road. A graveside service will be held 2 p.m. Friday in the Southwest Virginia Veterans Cemetery, Dublin, Virginia. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Thursday at Simpson Funeral Home. 366-0707
