William Melvin (Bill) Newman, Jr. 63 of Roanoke passed away Thursday, June 15, 2017. He was preceded in death by his father, William M. Newman, Sr. and mother, Bette Bowles Sutphin.Bill was a devoted member of the National Rifle Association. He enjoyed his work as a Master Mechanic with the Precision Fabrics Group (PFG).Surviving are his girlfriend, Neysa Luckado; sisters, Nancy and Susan Newman; brothers, Gary Newman and wife Adria, Michael Newman; one nephew and numerous nieces.A graveside service will be conducted 3 p.m. Saturday, June 17, 2017 in Evergreen Burial Park. The family will receive friends from 1:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. Saturday at Simpson Funeral Home 5160 Peters Creek Road. 366-0707
