Obituary of Jozan Garst Peyton

Jozan Garst Peyton, 68, of Roanoke went peacefully home to be with her Lord Monday, June 5, 2017 while surrounded by her family.  She was preceded by her parents Joe Miller Garst and Vernelle “Nell” Johnson Garst.

Jozan was a 1966 graduate of Jefferson Senior High School and later graduated from the Southern Secretarial School.  She was a member of Calvary Tabernacle and Beta Sigma Phi Sorority.

Surviving are her husband of 50 years, Ben M. Peyton; children, Heather Peyton Plunkett and husband Randy, Heidi Peyton Swecker and husband Matt,  and Blair Mark Peyton; grandchildren, Peyton Plunkett, Allison Swecker, Courtlyn Plunkett, and Mary-Randall Plunkett; aunt, Judy Johnson Bowman, husband Mike, and their family Kevin and Stephanie Bowman, and Dr. Keith and Caroline Bowman.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorials be made in Jozan’s memory to the Local Fund C/O Catawba Hospital 5525 Catawba Hospital Drive Catawba VA  24070.

Funeral service  will be conducted 2 p.m. Friday, June 9, 2017 at Simpson Funeral Home 5160 Peters Creek Road.  Interment will follow in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens.  The family will receive friends from 6-9 p.m. Thursday at Simpson Funeral Home.  366-0707
