Obituary of Newton Jackson

Newton Jackson 82 of Roanoke affectionaly known as “Mayor” around his neighborhood, passed away Tuesday May 30, 2017. His parents, Sam P. and Ineitha Williams Jackson, along with one sister, Diane Bishop, two brothers, Robert “Jack” Jackson, and Moses Jackson preceded him.

Mr. Jackson retired after many years of service with Board of Co-Op Educational Services in White Plains, NY. After retiring, he enjoyed deep-sea fishing and his passion of gardening. All will dearly miss a very loving and caring husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, and friend.

Left to cherish his memory are his loving and devoted wife of 53 years, Judy L. Jackson; two daughters, Ineitha and Stacy Jackson; five grandchildren, Crystal Bingham, Danaisha Jackson, Jeannell Jackson, Dallys Nesmith, and Destiny Nesmith; twelve great grandchildren, Cai’yah Bingham, Ciniah Bingham, Camillia Jackson, Cayden Brown, Judaya Jackson, Cordell Brown, Jer’manii Levesy, Camden Brown, Carlos “Teddy” Bingham, Jr, Je’Nya Levesy, Cookie Brown, and Marcus Brown, Jr; nine siblings, Samuel Jackson, Minnie Gatewood, Leroy Jackson (Verdean), Sam Jackson (Lavonnie), Gloria Eaddy (Wallace), James Jackson (Yolanda), George Jackson (Ellen), Evelina Martin, Willie Jackson. Along with special nieces and nephews who he loved like his own, Lynwood, Gayle, Lynell Thomas, and Deborah Calloway, and a host of other relatives and friends too numerous to mention.

A funeral service will be held 1:00pm Saturday June 3, 2017 in Simpson Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Williams Memorial Park. Family will receive friends from 11:00am until service time Saturday at the funeral home. Condolences may be left for the family at www.simpsonfuneral.com.
