Obituary of Lessie Jane Jewell

Lessie “Jane” Jewell, 86, of Roanoke County went home to be with the Lord Saturday, May 27, 2017. She was preceded by her father and mother, and her husband, Edward Jewell, Sr.

Lessie was an avid gardener and baker. She loved working with her flowers and baking all kinds of cakes. When her health permitted she was an active member of Masons Cove Chapel. She had worked as a convenience store owner, a ceramics studio operator, and was a former manager of Lendy’s at Lakeside.

Surviving are her children, Walter L. Glass and wife Marrianne, Brenda Ricchi and husband Tom, Wanda Desper and husband David, Bruce Glass and wife Lisa; step son, Edward Lee Jewell, Jr.; twelve grandchildren, eighteen great grandchildren; sisters, Stella King and husband Sanford, Darlene Roop and husband Doc; brother, Billy Thomas; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests that memorials be made to Gentle Shepherd Hospice.

A memorial service will be conducted 3 p.m. Thursday, June 1, 2017 at Simpson Funeral Home 5160 Peters Creek Road by the Rev. Arlie (Sonny) Miller and grandson, Chattin Ricchi.
