Ora Virginia Russell, 87, of Roanoke went home to be with the Lord, Friday, July 6, 2012. She was preceded in death by her husband Ancil (Andy) Russell and her parents, Felix and Sarah Roberts Long. Mrs. Russell was a life long member of Oakland Baptist Church. She leaves to cherish her memory, son, Ancil (Jr.) Russell and wife Mary of Moneta; daughter, Linda Vest and husband Randy, of Salem; grandchildren, Annette Paige Vest, Michael Drake Russell and wife Tracy; great grandchild, Taylor Russell.
The family would like to offer a special thanks to the many friends and family members for the special lunches, Frostys, and many other acts of love and kindness during the past three years. Many thanks to the staff on the 4th Floor at Friendship Manor for the excellent care they provided during Mrs. Russell's stay. A memorial service will be conducted 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, July 10, 2012 at Oakland Baptist Church with Dr. Scotty Carpenter, the Rev. Kelly Dampeer and the Rev. Rhudy Jones officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Arrangements by Simpson Funeral Home & Crematory. 366-0707
