Walter Kenneth (Ashley) Ashley 71 of Hollins, VA., a retired United States Army Veteran, passed away on Thursday April 27, 2017. Walter was born August 22, 1945 in Welch, West Virginia.

His parents, Stacy Red Ashley and Flossie L. Ashley preceded him in death. Along with a brother, Garfield Ashley, sisters, Gracie Childress, Geneva Gervais, and canine companion, his Pug Gizmo Ashley.

He is survived by the love of his life, Carlissa R. Brooks-Ashley; four sons; Kenneth W. Ashley (Lisa) of Zelienople, Pennsylvania, Kenneth D. Ashley (Cynthia), Larry Ashley,  and Ryan K. Ashley all of Albuquerque, New Mexico; brother, James Ashley (Betty) Wheeling, Illinois; sisters, Madeline Thacker (Royal) Anderson, S.C., Alice Dayton (Sammy)  of Portsmouth, Virginia. Along with Paris Hilton Ashley, and Bear Claws Ashley, their canine companions of the home in Hollins, Virginia.

The Ashley family request that in lieu of flowers, donations be shared with any Veteran organizations or your local SPCA in Ashley’s memory.

The Ashley family is in the care of Simpson Funeral Home and Crematory. 540-366-0707. Condolences may be left for the family at www.simpsonfuneral.com. Services will held at a later date
