Overstreet, Virginia Grant NoellVirginia Grant Noell Overstreet was born in Roanoke, VA on December 9, 1921 and died Tuesday, April 4, 2017. She was predeceased by her parents, H.C. and Florence Grant, and by her sisters, Shirley Grant Pirrung and Patricia Grant. She was also predeceased by two husbands, William C. (Bill) Noell, Sr. and Benjamin E. (Ben) Overstreet.Virginia was a graduate of Jefferson Highs School, class of 1938, and of Jefferson Hospital School of Nursing as a registered nurse, class of 1942.Virginia was a member of Belmont Presbyterian church for more than 80 years, serving her church in many capacities as long as she was able to attend. She began attending Belmont with her mother at age 6, and became a member at age 13. She grew up attending Sunday school, youth groups and women of the church organizations. God gave her the ability to serve her church thru her 80 plus years at Belmont, as a youth leader, a Sunday school teacher, choir member, moderator of the Presbyterian Women’s Organization, and a member of the Session for many years.Surviving are her sons, William C. Noell, Jr. (Carolyn), Edwin L. Noell (Jeannette), daughter, Mary Vinson (Kenneth), and a step daughter, Patricia Spranger; five grandchildren, Angela Noell Holliday, Michele Richardson, William K. Noell, Kathleen Vinson Downs, and Braxton Vinson; and nine great grandchildren.The family would like to thank the staff and nurses at Eastwood Assisted Living and Our Lady of the Valley for their many services and kindness to their mother and grandmother and to her Primary physician, Dr. Daniel Bauer of Physicians Associates for his care.A memorial service will be conducted 2 p.m. Tuesday, April 11, 2017 at Simpson Funeral Home 5160 Peters Creek Road by Dr. Todd Atkins.
