Obituary of Ashby Dean Moon

Ashby Dean Moon of Roanoke departed this life on March 11, 2017. Dean was born on June 12, 1962 to the late Herbert A. Moon and Margaret R. Moon Davis. His stepfather Herman Davis also precedes him. Dean graduated from Altavista High School in 1981. He was employed in the grocery business in Altavista, Lynchburg, and Salem. Later he collected and sold antiques and did flea markets with Michael. He could always make you laugh. His favorite hobby was detailing cars, especially his “Edna Bird” and “the Princess”. He was a member of the Motley Baptist Church and after attended the White Rock Church of the Brethren. Left to cherish his memory is his mother, Margaret R. Davis of Altavista; his best friend and business partner, Michael Pugh; special niece, Hope (Mark) Metzger and family of Altavista. Family will receive friends Monday March 13, 2017 from 5:00-7:00pm at Simpson Funeral Home. In addition, Tuesday March 14, 2017 from 1:00-2:00pm at Finch and Finch Funeral Home, 809 Main St, Altavista, VA 24517, and Graveside service at 3:00pm in Edge Hill Baptist Church Cemetery, 4321 Level Run Road, Hurt, VA.
