Obituary of William L. Anderson, Sr.

Please share a memory of William to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
William L. Anderson, Sr. 81, also known as “Red” or “Boodie” of Rocky Mount, formerly of North Wilkesboro, N.C. crossed over on Friday March 10, 2017. His wife of 20 years, Carolyn L. Anderson preceded him. Mr. Anderson served proudly in the United States Army during the Korean War. He retired from Associated Transportation after 20 years of service. He loved tinkering with things, a backyard mechanic, a jack-of-all-trades, but mostly a very loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and friend who will be dearly missed by all. Left to share memories together are his six children, David Anderson, Tammy Owen, William Anderson, II, Rodney Anderson, Andrea Anderson, and Rhoda Barton and their families, which include fifteen grandchildren, many great grandchildren; sister, Kay Gilreath of NC. Along with many nieces, nephews, and a host of friends. In lieu of flowers, family would like to have donations made to the American Cancer Society in their father’s memory. A memorial service celebrating Mr. Anderson’s life will be held 7:00pm Thursday March 16, 2017 at Simpson Funeral Home with Pastor Rick Via officiating. Family will receive friends from 6:00pm until service time Thursday at the funeral home. Condolences may be left for the family at www.simpsonfuneral.com. Arrangements handled by Simpson Funeral Home and Crematory, 366-0707.
