Obituary of Richard Lehrer

Richard “Rick” Lehrer, 55 of Roanoke, passed away suddenly Friday February 24, 2017 due to heart complications. Rick was proceeded in death by his mother Andrea “Tina” Simmons, and brother, Terry Lehrer. Left here to honor his memory are his daughters, Heather Lehrer and granddaughter, Kaylee Lehrer, Lindsey Carroll and husband Joshua Carroll; his father, Mickey Lehrer, Sr. and wife Marty; brothers, Louie, Charles, Jr. Todd, and Mike; sister Terrie, and his step father, Alton Simmons. His family also includes many nieces and nephews. Rick also leaves behind his girlfriend Cindy, best friend Randy; beloved dog Maggie, as well as a large two-wheel family and band family. Rick never met a stranger and always had a smile on his face. Rick’s professional career was spent as a Master Electrician. Rick enjoyed riding his Harley Davidson which he would ride rain or shine, snow or heat wave and throughout the entire country. Rick’s pride and joy was his band that he had created and managed for over three decades, Hired Guns. Rick was a guitar player, mandolin player, and vocalist. Rick enjoyed social gatherings amongst friends, helping others and most importantly spending time with his sweet Kaylee who was his greatest treasure in life. Although we have Rick’s memories that will live on through us forever, he will be greatly missed. The family will receive friends at Simpson Funeral home on Peter’s Creek Road in Roanoke, VA on Wednesday March 1, 2017 from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm. Rick’s wishes were to be cremated and have a large party. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date to honor his wishes.
