Margarete Smith 83, of Roanoke went home to be with the Lord Tuesday, February 14, 2017. She was preceded in death by her husband Donald Harold Smith. Margarete was loved by everyone and will be missed by many.
Surviving are her son, Harold Smith and wife Wanda; daughter, Elizabeth Bates and husband John; grandchildren, Adam Bates, Jasmine Bates, Donald Smith, and Christina Rockefeller; and four great grandchildren.
The family would like to offer a special thanks to the staff at Good Samaritan Hospice for their many acts of kindness and compassion.
The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. Saturday, February 18, 2017 at Simpson Funeral Home 5160 Peters Creek Road. A graveside service will follow at 1 p.m. in Cedar Lawn Memorial Park. Arrangements by Simpson Funeral Home. 366-0707
