David R. Smith 86, of Troutville went to be with the Lord on Saturday, February 4, 2017. He was preceded in death by his parents, Hobert and Jane Smith, and a sister, Joyce Williams.
Surviving are his brother, Robert Smith; wife of 63 years, Iva; a son, Michael (Sandy) a daughter, Beverly Williams, one godchild, three grandchildren; five great grandchildren; one niece; and numerous great nephews and great nieces.
David served in the U S Army in Korea. He retired from the U S Postal Service with 30 years of service and was a faithful member of Shenandoah Baptist Church for 36 years.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Camp Eagle Fund C/O Shenandoah Baptist Church.
Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Wednesday, February 8, 2017 at Simpson Funeral Home 5160 Peters Creek Road by the Rev. Kevin Smith and Dr. Robert Alderman. Interment will follow in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at Simpson Funeral Home. 366-0707
