Ella Mae St.Clair Thurman, 85, of Roanoke went home to be with the Lord, Wednesday, January 18, 2017. She was preceded in death by her father and mother, Charles Robert and Gaynor Frances St.Clair, ten of twelve brothers and sisters, a son, Dennis W. Thurman and her beloved dog, Precious.
Mrs. Thurman retired from the Roanoke United Methodist Home as a nurse. She was a longtime member of Fellowship Baptist Church and more recently Clearbrook Baptist Church.
Surviving are her husband of 67 years, Thomas W. Thurman; children, Joyce (Joy) Thurman, Sandy Thurman Myers and husband Kenneth, Thomas Lee Thurman, Kathy Thurman Padgett; grandchildren, Brian and Angie Thurman, Dawn and Phillip Hypes, Bradley and Elizabeth Thurman, Kevin Myers, Jason Myers, Kara Padgett and Isaac Padgett; great grandchildren, Brice Thurman, Jakob Hypes, Hanah Thurman, Kameron Hypes, Carter Thurman, Julian Myers, Miley Taylor, Aiden Myers, Tyler Thurman, and Katherine Thurman; sisters, Thelma Pugh, Betsy Rolf, Rebecca St.Clair, Mary Thompson and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted Noon Saturday, January 21, 2017 at Simpson Funeral Home 5160 Peters Creek Road by the Rev. Brian Ratliff and the Rev. Oleander English. Interment will follow in Sherwood Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m. Friday at Simpson Funeral Home. 366-0707
