Dear Tracy and family, We are so sad to have just learned of Jimmy's passing way last year. (Our Christmas card just was returned after all this time, with the note.) He was certainly a friendly and special man: we met him many years ago when we began doing the Roanoke Valley Gun Show there at the then-Roanoke Civic Center and Jimmy worked the entrance gates. We so enjoyed going to dinner with him on many Saturday nights after the show; he introduced us to so many nice restaurants around the Roanoke area, both on the north side of the city as well as around the Market and nearby areas. We last saw him one afternoon a couple years back when we dropped in at Sam's there on the Square. He'll always be part of our memories and may your love and memories of him remain with you forever knowing how special he always was. Sincerely, Evie and Dave, Goldsboro NC and Stuart VA.

Dear Tracy and family: We just learned of "Fox's" passing. A birthday card we sent was returned marked "deceased." We are so sad to learn of his passing -- he was such a wonderful, friendly person. We had known Fox since attending William Fleming HS and had kept in touch throughout the years -- mainly at Christmas and for birthdays. I have spent the past 2 days trying to locate a way to contact you - calling Wildhurst and other Presbyterian churches -- finally tracked down Bill Harris who had been the pastor at Wildhurst for many of the years Fox attended there.
I hope you receive this note -- please know how much we loved Fox and how dear he was to us. We talked on the phone every year but the last time we saw each other was in Williamsburg, VA, while we were living there and he was on a tour/trip. He never changed -- was always smiling and keeping us laughing! I'm sure you know how many lives he impacted in such a positive way! He will be missed. Sincerely, Anne and Bill Wilson

Please know we will miss Mr. The Fox very much. He was a wonderful and kind gentleman who was quick with a joke and a story! He was truly one of a kind and we were always happy to see him in the deli and listen to his tales of traveling. Thanks for the memories!

I am so sorry to hear of the passing of Jimmy. In echoing thoughts stated by others, I do not believe I have ever known a more gentle, caring and loyal friend than Jimmy. I first met him while growing up in Wasena approximately 60 years ago and am proud to have known him and to call him a friend. He will truly be missed and, more importantly, will never be forgotten.

Dear Tracy and Amber,
I met Jimmy almost fifty-three years, and we were instantly friends. Along the way, we have enjoyed beach trips, dinners, plays around the Valley and at the Barter, and going to his JHS Class Reunions, and also those for WFHS. Just 3 weeks ago, I attended a weekly dinner where he was in attendance. As I hadn't been for a while, he said, "Do I have a ride home tonight?" "Of course," I said. So glad I got that extra time with him, never knowing it would be our last visit. I will miss Jimmy so much, but I am a better person for knowing him. Jimmy, You are blessing and loved by so many. I will love you forever and never forget you. Until we meet again, thanks for just being you.
Sincerely, Lynn McCutchen Thompson

I met Jimmy while at William Fleming in the 1960's. All of my friends and family bought clothes from him during his many years at Davidson's. More recently, it was always nice to stop in Sam's on the Market and talk with him about old times. He will be truly missed.

What a truly wonderful person! My wife & I, both William Fleming graduates, knew Jimmy for over 56 years. We've never known a more kind and gentle person than Jimmy Fox and we are so saddened by his passing. This world would be a much better place with more people like him. Surely, God has welcomed him to heaven with open arms!

It is very difficult for me to express my feelings at the loss of my friend Jimmy . I will never forget my many visits to his home, fishing a stream together, rowing a boat or climbing a mountain. Jimmy was always game for a new adventure. Friends are a gift from God They bring us joy and happiness and help us in times of need. That's why I can truly say how glad I am I had his friendship. Jimmy had an everlasting effect on me during my teen age years with his counsel / advice, always sound and to the point. “Some people come into our lives and leave footprints on our hearts and we are never the same.” (Flavia Weedn) this was the case with Jimmy! The Bible says that "Blessed are they that mourn for they shall be comforted." I pray that God will bless his family and all us and give us the strength to carry on without him. – Edgar/Ed Knowling
